Frequently Asked Questions

How can I update my subscription or profile information?

At checkout, you will receive an email with a code to create a password for your user profile on our website. After logging into your profile, you can see when your next payment will process, shipping updates, and your account information. You can manually update your shipping address, card information, skip an upcoming box, or cancel a subscription at any time. If you have any issues or questions regarding your account, please reach out to us at contact@bonvoyagebookbox.com for assistance. 

 

Please note: If you would like to skip or cancel your subscription, please do so before our renewal date on the 1st of the month.

How does the subscription work?

Our Book Boxes are renewed every other month on the 1st (January, March, May, July, September, and November) and shipped before or on the 25th.

When you first sign-up, you will be charged for your 1st box in the upcoming cycle. Your box will ship along with the other subscription boxes, and then you will join the regular billing cycle for all future boxes. 

As an example, let's say you join our subscribtion on November 5th. Our next book box is scheduled for January, so you would pay for your 1st book box when you sign-up on November 5th and join the upcoming January cycle. Since you have already paid for the January box, you will not be charged again when the subscription renews on January 1st, your box will ship along with our other subscribers by January 25th, and then you will join the regulary scheduled bi-monthly renewing cycle, so your next payment will process on March 1st for the next box. 

You can skip a box or cancel your subscription at any time by logging into your account created at checkout. Payments are processed on the 1st of the month, so please skip/cancel by the 31st to ensure you aren't charged for an additional month. Once payment is processed we are unable to offer a refund as your box will already be in production.We are not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers or incorrect addresses provided by the customer.

What can I expect to receive in the travel book boxes?

Our Travel book boxes focus on a particular city, region, or country inspired by that month’s book. Our founder personally reviews each book carefully to select literature that is both enjoyable and reflects the culture of the destination. In addition to your new “booked” destination, your box will arrive with curated recipes authentic to the location (and tested by Sarah— follow her on social media to see her taste-tested each recipe for the month), informative materials about the destination (pamphlets, itineraries, travel guides, magazines, etc.), an exclusive Bon Voyage bookmark, and (Sarah’s personal favorite) a limited-edition passport sticker to add to your reading passport! We pride ourselves on quality and authenticity. Crowd your shelves with books and informative materials, not trinkets that will end up in the bin or the back of your closet. See where your next box will take you! 

What if I already read the book? Do you offer refunds?

We have the same taste! We take great care to select books that authentically reflect the culture and high-quality writing. Sometimes that means that if you are widely-read in a particular country's literature, that you may have already gobbled up our monthly pick.

We hope that you gift your additional copy to a friend, loved one, or fellow book club member. Remember that to give a book is to give someone a ticket to the world! 

 

Due to the nature of our curated boxes, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges unless a product arrives damaged or defective. If there is an issue with your order, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at contact@bonvoyagebookbox.com, and we’ll do our best to make it right.

 

 

Who would most enjoy the subscription? Can I gift this to my teenager?

Avid readers who seek to learn more about other perspectives and experiences around the world will look forward to their travel book boxes each month. This box is curated for Adult readers and many of the books reflect common hardships and sometimes traumatic and/or mature experiences that may be sensitive for younger readers. We hope to carry young adult and young reader subscriptions in the future!

How do I gift a box?

Please select "gift" at checkout and let us know what you would like included in a handwritten message we will tuck inside for your recipient. You will also have the option to include the recipient's email address if you would like for them to be notified about their gift. 

If you are gifting a subscription box, you will also have the option to decide how many boxes you would like to gift at checkout (1 box, 2 boxes, etc.) Your gifted subscription will automatically terminate once the number of gifted boxes has been fulfilled. So if you are only gifting our upcoming box, your card will not be charged for any additional boxes. 

I've moved or updated my card. How can I update my account information?

You can manually update your shipping address, card information, etc. when you login to your profile on our website.

 

Please update your information before our subscription renewal date on the 1st of the month to avoid any failed payments or shipments.We are not responsible for shipping fees related to inaccurate addresses.

How do I skip a month or cancel my subscription?

You can manage your account and upcoming renewals any time by logging into your account. 

Please note: You may skip a box or cancel your subscription at any time before your next billing date. Cancellations after a renewal will take effect in the following billing cycle, and you will still receive any boxes already paid for.

Do you ship outside of the US?

At this time we are unable to fulfill orders outside of the US. 

Are the boxes book club friendly?

Absolutely! You can use all of your items in our boxes for a internationa/travel/culture themed book club.

 

Looking to start a book club? Invite your members to join our subscription and arrange to meet and unbox your 1st box together. This is a fun way to create excitement. We try to include everything you need for a seamless book club with little prep. Try one (or both) of our included recipes to offer your guests a "taste" of the culture and use our included reading questions in our travel guide to launch the discussion. If you subscribe to our email newsletters, we often include book club ideas for our upcoming voyages. We would also love to feature your book club in our newsletter and social media!
